Reworld and Goodwill Keystone Collected 1.4 Million Pounds of Electronic Waste

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Over 1.4 million pounds of electronic debris have been gathered for recycling from 22 Pennsylvania counties thanks to a partnership between a non-profit and a waste management company. Within a year of the program's inception, the historic collection was accomplished.

The collection numbers listed above are as of January of current year. May 2025 will mark the program's one-year anniversary.

In a news release, Jessica Shirley, Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, said the 1.4 million pounds of collection is a great result for Pennsylvania and an incredible achievement for Goodwill and Reworld. According to her, the program helps millions of Pennsylvanians avoid landfills by giving them a way to properly dispose of their electronic debris.

Since January 2013, Pennsylvania has prohibited the disposal of covered equipment, such as televisions, in accordance with state law. Before, residents of Pennsylvania had to wait for once- or twice-yearly community collection activities to get rid of old devices like computer monitors and televisions. These products are currently accepted at over 40 locations throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania through the cooperation between Reworld and Goodwill Keystone.
