Rochester Hills offering Christmas tree recycling this weekend

The city of Rochester Hills will hold a Christmas tree recycling drop off this weekend.

Residents can dispose of natural Christmas trees from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9 and Sunday, Jan. 10 at the Clinton River Watershed Council, located at 1115 West Avon Road.

Trees will only be accepted during the scheduled times and at the designated drop off location. Improper disposal of trees at other locations or near the drop off site could result in a ticket.

All lights, wires, ornaments, rope, garland, stands, braces and bagging must be removed from the tree prior to disposal. No mass or commercial drop offs are permitted.

GFL Environmental will also be collecting trees for the three weeks following Christmas. Trees larger than six feet must be cut in place before being placed on the curb.

Questions about the recycling program can be directed to the city’s natural resources manager at 248-656-4673.
