SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Abundia Global Impact Group, based in New York, stated that it has chosen Cedar Port Industrial Park in the Baytown neighborhood of Houston, Texas, to build its first chemical recycling factory.
The development of the Texas property is scheduled to begin next year. However, the company did not provide any other information on the plant's capacity or when it expects to begin operations. To create pyrolysis oil, the Texas plant will use Alterra's liquefaction technology. Since 2021, the corporation has held a legal license to utilize the technology.

Abundia and Alterra intended to establish their first facility in the United Kingdom when they signed the technology licensing deal. The planned facility, with a processing capacity of around 40,000 tonnes of plastic trash per year, was anticipated to open in 2022. However, there have been no updates on the facility since.
According to Abundia CEO Ed Gillespie, Cedar Port Industrial Park's existing distribution lines via rail, sea, and road networks make it a suitable location for the plant. Furthermore, the company intends to expand to other locations in the United States and Europe in conjunction with Alterra, he stated.
