SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Windsor Town Council gave approval to a two-year license agreement between Windsor and United Cerebral Palsy of the North Bay towards operating a self-service kiosk at the Bluebird Centre. The kiosk will facilitate recycling of CRV bottles and cans to Windsor residents.
The use of the kiosk is not allowed under current zoning rules. For the kiosk to become accessible for use, the Council has to pass a separate resolution to approve the recycling facility as a temporary use outside the recycling centre.

The kiosk will have a 10-foot-by-20-foot storage container, a pop-up tent and a box truck. It will be open on three days per week, four hours daily.
The kiosk is part of program launched by Zero Waste Sonoma and United Cerebral Palsy of the North Bay to establish small community-focused CRV centers in underserved areas of the County. This is the third pilot location after Sebastopol and Healdsburg. The pilot program will be managed by UCP of the North Bay, which in turn will collect the materials and sort them at the Petaluma Recycling Center by paying customers on site.
According to Tim Ricard, Windsor Town Community Development Director, a new senior enter is scheduled to open at the Bluebird Centre before the end of the current year.
The town had closed its only recycling center by end-August this year, citing economic constraints.
