SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) provided millions of dollars to the tribes for trash reduction initiatives.

The U.S. EPA announced $300 million in grants towards various projects aimed at addressing climate change and air pollution issues. Out of this, $21 million is specifically dedicated to waste, recycling, and organics projects. The EPA grant is authorized under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Consequently, funding was provided under the EPA's Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program to five indigenous communities. This will help the community's attempts to upgrade the recycling infrastructure. It will also aid in the development of an organics recycling facility and the construction of a sustainable natural gas plant.

The NOAA granted $23 million in federal funding for marine debris mitigation efforts. These include projects designed to capture litter before entering waterways, thus addressing pollution in tribal communities. The NOAA grant is authorized under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The EPA had previously given state and local government organizations subsidies totaling millions of dollars for the reduction of climate pollution.
