Vanguard had earlier unveiled plans to build new anaerobic digestion sites in a geographically connected manner, starting with Northeast and Midwest regions. It plans to use a fleet of up to six trucks of various forms in an area with two nearby digesters. Thereafter, the fleet would be scaled up across the entire network. The company currently manages as many as 32 sites, but looks to raise that number to 100 before end-2028, said the company news release.

Vanguard currently engages transportation subcontractors to collect organic waste from its customers to its digesters. The company plans to internalize those operations gradually, which it believes could help the company achieve greater profitability.

The company plans to expand its depackaging capabilities. It currently operates a depackaging facility in operation in Agawam, Massachusetts. Two more facilities are under construction in Wisconsin and Minnesota. More facilities are expected to come online in mid-Atlantic and other regions.
