SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Department of Environmental Facilities (DEF), Westchester County announced that it will host a Household Recycling Day (HRD) event during Earth Day Weekend, Saturday, April 20th. The event will be held at FDR State Park, 2957 Crompond Rd., Rte. 202, Yorktown 9 AM to 3 PM.

As per news release, the upcoming event is the first such event of the year. It must be noted that the Department had hosted five household waste collection events during the previous year. It aims to provide residents across the County a convenient and safe option to dispose of a wide range of household waste. The residents are requested to place the items to be disposed of in their car’s trunk or backseat. They may remain in the vehicle, while the items are offloaded by staff.
The event will not accept non-rechargeable alkaline and carbon zinc batteries, motor oil, smoke detectors, cell phones, explosives, construction debris and hypodermic needles. Also, the event will not accept waste from businesses, schools, or other institutions.
Those unable to attend the event could drop off their household waste County’s Household-Material Recycling Facility (H-MRF), 15 Woods Road, Valhalla through prior appointment. The facility will beopen Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM.
