WHITEFISH, Mont. — Whitefish city officials are looking into a new recycling program by seeking a contractor that can not only collect materials but also possibly assist in a new recycling site.

The City Council approved seeking requests for bids in hopes of finding a company to manage both residential and commercial materials.

As an alternative option, the city is seeking bids for contractors to provide residential curbside recycling for about 3,500 residents in the city.

The contractor would be responsible for providing three years of recycling service.

The City Council recently approved a new five-year contract with Republic Services. The company will continue to handle solid waste disposal for the city.
