Wisconsin DNR Offers Electronics Recycling Grants in Undeserved Areas


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has started accepting applications for E-Cycle Wisconsin Electronics Collection Grant, which is awarded to projects that promote electronics recycling in underserved areas. These projects must host an electronics collection site or event between June 2025 and December 2026. The deadline for application is Wednesday, April 30, 2025 5 PM.

As per state electronics law which came into effect in 2010, electronics are banned from the trash.

Businesses, nonprofit organizations, and municipal and tribal governments will get up to $250,000 in grants from the most recent round. A permanent collection site will receive a maximum grant of $15,000, while each collection event will receive a maximum award of $5,000. Projects without a permanent collection site registered under E-Cycle Wisconsin in the counties of Calumet, Crawford, Florence, Forest, Green Lake, Iowa, Iron, Jackson, Marinette, Marquette, Price, and Taylor will be given priority by the DNR.

More than $260,000 has been given by DNR to projects in 30 counties, primarily in rural regions, since 2022. During the three-year period from August 2022 to August 2025, the grants have supported the development of 53 one-day collecting events and five permanent collection sites.

The E-Cycle Wisconsin program has recycled over 420 million pounds of electronics since it began.
