ACE's technology completely replaces the smelting stage of lead recycling with a room temperature hydrometallurgical process which is fully electrified and produces zero Scope 1 emissions.
According to the program, the manufacturers of products packaged in single-use materials such as foods, beverages and other items are required to pay a fee.
The hope is that popular items such as paint, stain, cleaning supplies, oil and antifreeze that have been turned in for proper disposal can be used or re-used, instead of being disposed of.
It comes after Go Plant Fleet Services, the company that previously managed the specialised vehicle that handles the large skips at these sites, entered administration.
The grant is part of the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which includes a component to expand recycling infrastructure and education for waste management systems, a release states.
