In this workshop, you will learn about the process in which waste in NYC is disposed of, the importance of proper waste disposal, and the real-world implications of food waste. You’ll also learn how to create and manage your own compost bin so that you can begin reducing your own waste.
New York City produces more than 14 million tons of trash every year, which results in $2.3 billion going into proper waste disposal maintenance. Composting provides a great alternative to disposing waste, such as food, newspapers, and cardboard. This can drastically decrease the amount of conventional waste produced by households and provides a sustainable alternative to the city's waste management services. Join us for this meaningful workshop to begin your own journey to waste management!
*This workshop is open to all current NYU student, staff, and faculty and will take place in-person at the NYU MakerSpace located in the Tandon School of Engineering on the downtown Brooklyn campus.*
