Reporting to the Talent and Culture manager, you will play a key role in establishing and deploying health and safety programs and procedures and developing the health and safety (physical and psychological) and continuous improvement culture. You will work as both a leader and an expert. You will also be responsible for planning, executing and monitoring health and safety related projects and training.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a health and safety strategic plan and training programs;
- Collaborate and support all teams contributing to the achievement of the health and safety strategic plan and ensure that they are aligned with the plan’s commitments;
- Supervise the deployment of the health and safety plan across the organization and act as the ultimate ambassador of the health and safety culture;
- Act as an agent of change and set up communication and awareness mechanisms with managers and employees;
- Develop and implement effective health and safety policies and procedures per local regulations, industry best practices and Lithion’s culture;
- Participate in the implementation of the health and safety audit system and the integrated management system in collaboration with the environment and quality teams;
- Implement an organization-wide health and safety training matrix for employees;
- Coordinate awareness campaigns in collaboration with the health and safety advisor to promote a safety culture within Lithion;
- Coordinate and consolidate all KPIs and initiatives related to the health and safety plan and participate in the production of dashboards and reports;
- Participate and support our health and safety committees in the various business units;
- Establish effective communication channels to encourage the escalation of health and safety concerns;
- Identify health and safety best practices and trends within the industry to influence directions and priorities for action;
- Perform any other related tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree or a combination of professional experience and training in a relevant discipline;
- 10 years of experience in developing and executing health and safety programs and strategies in an industrial environment (hot work, lockout, confined space, etc.);
- Knowledge of the various ISO standards, as well as in environment and quality;
- Willingness to engage in both the strategic component and operational implementation;
- Experience in an industrial environment with chemicals;
- Good knowledge of WHMIS/GHS, compatibility, storage and handling of materials;
- Experience in machine safety;
- Ability to coach and influence others;
- Engaging leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively;
- Excellent change management and communication skills;
- Ability to handle ambiguity and uncertainty;
- Autonomy, great sense of initiative and organization;
- Ability to manage many cases simultaneously;
- Bilingualism (French-English) written and spoken.
