Job Details

Working closely with the engineering and operations teams, you will be responsible for defining technical solutions in a context of production problem-solving and improvement. You will also coordinate with external engineering teams to carry out the engineering, procurement and commissioning of various projects.

Since Lithion deploys its technology under license, you will also participate in the various stages of engineering our technological solutions for our customers' projects worldwide.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Capital Projects Department, you will assist the engineering and operations team in:

  • Design mechanical solutions or assemblies in an industrial environment, from a concept, sketch or estimate (2D and 3D);
  • Visit factories/suppliers to identify problems and solutions to be implemented;
  • Develop technical solutions to production problems;
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of plant productivity and performance;
  • Integrate safety, occupational health and environmental considerations throughout the development process;
  • Define tolerances for parts and assemblies during the design process;
  • Write and review equipment specifications and carry out selection;
  • Actively participate in the procurement process (call for tenders, bid analysis, technical follow-up);
  • Work closely with suppliers of parts or equipment to obtain information or solve technical problems related to the design;
  • Participate in prototype follow-up;
  • Estimate and plan solutions;
  • Participate in drafting plans and specifications;
  • Participate in project follow-up, including cost control and schedule monitoring;
  • Support on-site construction work and participate in system commissioning;
  • Write reports and documentation associated with various projects;
  • Liaise with consulting engineering teams;
  • Perform preliminary design calculations (mechanical, piping).

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree or college diploma in mechanical engineering;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (asset);
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in engineering;
  • Relevant industrial experience (chemical processes), an important asset;
  • Skills and/or experience in bulk handling, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumping/piping systems, etc;
  • ASP Construction certification;
  • Bilingualism (French-English), both oral and written;
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills;
  • Mobilizing leader and excellent teamwork skills;
  • Rigorous, judgmental and results-oriented;
  • Problem-solving skills;
  • Highly adaptable.
