SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Town of Falmouth in Massachusetts will enact mandatory recycling rules effective April 14 this year.
Accordingly, residents, businesses, and all others in the town will be required to recycle materials that are on the state’s list of banned waste. Incidentally, this comprehensive list comprises of materials such as cardboard, paper, plastic containers, glass bottles, in addition to bulky items such as yard waste or mattresses.

The trash haulers and commercial generators are required to provide recycling services to all customers in the town. All individuals and entities in the business of collecting solid waste, recyclable materials, or compostables in the Town of Falmouth shall obtain a permit from the Board of Health. Also, no entity shall prevent compliance with the MassDEP Waste Bans, the press release noted.
All generators will have to separate from their solid waste all recyclable materials and shall place recyclable materials and solid waste in separate, appropriate receptacles. Permitted haulers may charge separately for the collection of recyclables for commercial generators. They must ensure that the e final destination point of disposal for recyclable materials is a licensed MRF.
The town will hold a public meeting on the new regulations at the Falmouth Public Library on Wednesday, March 29 at 9 a.m.
