Beacon Recycling to Expand Operations in Muskegon, Michigan


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Beacon Recycling, Inc. - the leading recycling company announced plans to expand its operations in Muskegon, Michigan. The recycler intends to invest $17.5 million in the expansion project, which is guaranteed to create nearly 36 jobs over the period of next three years.

The company will invest towards purchasing a new shredder machine, apart from adding a separate materials services division.

The project is being supported by a performance-based grant amounting to $500,000 from Micro Michigan Business Development Program. The City of Muskegon has already offered 50% property tax abatement in support of the project. In addition, the Michigan Strategic Fund too has also approved a State Education Tax abatement.

Commenting on the development, Grant Bolhuis, COO, Beacon Recycling stated that the company is pleased to announce major investment projects in metals processing and recycling infrastructure at its Muskegon recycling hub, as it celebrates 25 years in operation. The company is excited to continue its history of successful growth in West Michigan by growing its recycling capabilities, he added.

The company appreciated the support from the city of Muskegon and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
