The large gap in plastic recycling in the Midwest has been one among the several reasons for choosing Rogers as the site for the new plant. The financial support from regional businesses and organizations was yet another reason.

The lead investors of the facility include General Mills, Schwan’s Company, Charter Next Generation, Target, Ecolab, the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW), Closed Loop Partners and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).

Commenting the development, Andrew Pieterse, Myplas USA CEO noted that this is a very exciting day for the company as it opens the U.S. headquarters and its first U.S. recycling facility. The facility had commenced operations in August by opening one of two production lines. Additional lines to enable recycling of flexible plastic film will be added over the next 18 months, he added.
