The certification was awarded after thorough analysis of its business in five different categories- policy, data, collection, recovery and disposal.

Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery operates a fleet of more than 125 vehicles, providing residential and commercial collection in east San Francisco Bay area. In addition, the company runs a transfer station in Pittsburgh, California, with a processing capacity of nearly 1,500 tons per day.

The company’s efforts to achieve the prestigious certification were led by Bart Miller, director of environmental health and safety. The company’s fleet runs on renewable biodiesel, which in turn helped it to earn extra credits during the certification process, he noted.
