AMERIPEN Hailed Maryland Legislators for Passage of Packaging EPR Bill


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The group AMERIPEN, which advocates for the packaging sector as a whole in U.S. public policy, has praised Maryland lawmakers for their prompt passage of SB 901, the extended producer responsibility program for packaging. Maryland would become the sixth state in the union to enact an EPR law for packaging if Governor Wes Moore signs it.

"AMERIPEN is proud to have supported SB 901 and is grateful to all across the packaging value chain who have provided thoughtful feedback to make this legislation as effective as possible," said Rob Keith, Policy & Membership Director. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Maryland lawmakers for their fruitful interaction with subject matter specialists.

AMERIPEN stated that it hopes other states may explore similar legislation in the future. It declared that it is prepared to collaborate with different packaging value chain players to guarantee smooth implementation and adherence to regulations. The pledge to collaborate with Maryland lawmakers to help the state realize its aspirations of having top-notch packaging recovery infrastructure was also reaffirmed.
