SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): At their meeting on Monday night, Beaverton City Council started talking about a possible curbside recycling changeover.
A 30-yard recycling container is available for people to bring their recyclables to the Department of Public Works building as part of the City's current recycling services agreement with Republic Services. People discarding non-recyclable things is one of the issues the bin has been dealing with. Residents from outside the city are also using these dumpsters.

The bins will be emptied five times a year in accordance with the contract. The city has already emptied the bin five times this year by April. The cost of each extra emptying is $650. By June of this year, the city had utilized three more emptyings. Republic Services also plans to increase the service price on the biweekly bill by $1.74.
Residents would receive a 95-gallon recycling bin when switching to curbside recycling, and it would be picked up every two weeks. In the first year, this will add $11 to the biweekly payment. The Council has until December of this year to gather user feedback regarding the proposed curbside recycling transition.
The proposal from Schulze, Oswald, Miller, and Edwards Accounting Firm was accepted by the City, and they have committed to conducting an audit prior to the end of the December deadline. The audit report will be turned in before the December meeting of the Council.
