SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Town of Bedford’s Department of Public Works (DPW) announced new recycling partnership with Hopedale-based glass recycler 2M Resources.
The new collaboration is expected to drive Bedford’s ongoing sustainability efforts and deliver significant cost savings to taxpayers. As per estimates, the partnership with 2M Resources is predicted to save more than $100 per ton over the prevailing rates of single-stream recycling.

The DPW urged residents to bring their discarded glass items to the Compost & Recycling Center located at 108 Carlisle Rd. The above site will remain open to residents on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 8 AM to 1PM. The site will accept glass bottles and jars of any colour. All non-glass components need to be removed. Also, window glass, mirror glass and plate glass will not be accepted.
The DPW staff will transport the collected glass items to 2M Resources’ Hopedale facility, where they will be processed to generate raw material for manufacturing fiberglass, which in turn will be used in various applications.
The innovative cost-saving public-private partnership initiative will set a precedent for municipalities seeking effective solutions to environmental challenges, said the town news release.
