SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): As per various sources, Pennsylvania-based independent waste hauler Whitetail Disposal is likely to be acquired by Casella Waste Systems, though an official confirmation is still awaited. If so, it will be the second acquisition in the region by Casella. It must be noted that Casella had recently acquired New-Jersey-based LMR Disposal in a deal that closed earlier this month.
Established in 2008, Whitetail Disposal provides employment to approximately 350 people. The company offers recycling services in addition to residential, commercial and roll-off services. It has existing contracts with as many as 18 municipalities across eastern Pennsylvania region. As of end-2023, the company is reportedly servicing almost 210,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers.
The proposed acquisition will further consolidate Casella’s hauling presence in eastern Pennsylvania. The company had marked entry into the region last year, by way of acquisition of assets from GFL Environmental. Also, the company has been focusing on expanding its operations at the McKean Landfill in Pennsylvania.
As per reports, Whitetail employees have already been informed about a potential sale to Casella Systems last week.
