SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Mission has launched new recycling program. The City has set up its first recycling drop-off center at 15th street and Kika De La Garza Loop, built using the $25,000 grant that it received from the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council.
Although, the City is yet to launch the recycling program officially, it has placed recycling drop-off bins for public use. It also plans to install drop-off chutes, using the $25,000 grant. Also, the City plans to initiate an awareness campaign to educate residents on what can and what cannot be dropped off. Although, it has no plans to offer curbside recycling services now, it aims to move towards it in the near future.

The design should portray a recycling theme and must be in line with Mission’s history and culture. Both solo and group artists are invited to submit designs. The deadline for submission is fixed as 30th November, 2022, which will be extended to 15th December, in the event of not enough submissions. The winning design and artist will be selected by the city’s Keep Mission Beautiful board.
The recycling program aims to provide City residents with clean streets and beautiful environment, said Anais Chapa, Administrative Coordinator for the Sanitation Department.
