City of Pasadena Launched Post-Holiday Recycling Drive

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Public Works Department of the Coty of Pasadena announced launch of post-holiday recycling drive. To encourage sustainability and guarantee less waste, it asked locals to recycle wrapping paper and Christmas trees. According to a press release, the curbside pickup program will operate from Monday, January 6 through Friday, January 17, 2025.

Residents must trim their trees to fit inside the yard waste containers so that the lids can be closed, the announcement stated. All natural trees can be recycled curbside after the stands, ornaments, and lights are removed, and flocked trees can be disposed of in mixed waste containers after the lights are removed. The artificial trees can be donated or put up for sale before being dumped in landfills, the Department stated.

Additionally, according to the Department, shiny or sparkly wrapping paper, bows, and musical greeting cards are not recyclable, whereas things like plain wrapping paper, plain holiday greeting cards, cardboard boxes, plain paper bags, and #1 and #2 plastics are recyclable.

You can dispose of non-working lights at the Solvents, Automotive, Flammables, and Electronics Collection Centers or at One-Day E-Waste Events. Working lights could be donated in the meanwhile.
