City of Phoenix Announced Changes to Bulk Trash Collection Schedule

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): City of Phoenix, Arizona announced changes to the bulk trash collection service.

The City Council’s Transportation, Infrastructure, and Planning (TIP) Subcommittee meeting presented the Appointment-Based Bulk Trash system, which will allow residents to schedule their own bulk trash collection, rather than waiting for quarterly collection. The new system will come into effect on September 30, 2024.

Under the prevailing bulk trash program by the City, a collection schedule is being announced for the entire year in advance. Accordingly, each region will have four designated collection periods every year. The newly introduced appointment-based system will replace quarterly collection schedule by the end of September this year. The City noted that all bulk trash collection thereafter must be scheduled online.

The city portal will present available collection dates depending on region. The customers are required to log into the portal to select a date of their convenience. Once the date selection is done, customers will receive a text confirmation. Further to this, customers are allowed to keep their bulky items for disposal starting from 7 days prior to their scheduled appointment date. Up to 10 cubic yards of trash are allowed per collection.

The main advantage to customers is that they have the freedom to schedule their own bulk trash pickup, rather than waiting for their dates to come as per city schedule.
