Denali and Walmart Collaborate to Launch Innovative Recycling and Reuse Technology

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Denali announced collaboration with Walmart to launch innovative depackaging services that aims to boost food waste recycling services at thousands of Walmart and Sam’s Club stores across the nation. The new technology will have capacity to separate up to 97% of trash from organic waste.

Walmart has emerged as the first retailer to partner with Denali to make use of the pathbreaking technology, as part of its commitment to reduce operational waste. As on date, the technology has been launched in over 1,400 Walmart and Sam's Club locations in more than 16 markets across the country including Houston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Indianapolis, Phoenix and cities across New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

The new technology separates food from its packaging materials like plastic and cardboard, thus resulting in production of a cleaner stream of organic materials. This will help to eliminate manual separation of food from its packaging, which consequently makes it easier to recycle and reuse food waste.

The collaboration targets to reduce food waste at scale, while enabling the circular economy. In addition to organic food waste, the technology can process other food categories including animal products, dry and liquid goods.
