EPA Honors Outstanding Achievements in Appliance Recycling


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded 12 partners in recognition for their outstanding achievements in appliance recycling. The Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) Leadership Awards were announced in a recent virtual ceremony.

There were three categories of awards- the RAD Champion Award, the RAD Program Growth Award, and the RAD Ambassador Award.

The ten winners of the RAD Champion Award, for highest rates of insulation foam recovery from refrigerated appliances, were General Electric Appliances, Turlock Irrigation District, Palo Alto Utilities, Silicon Valley Power, Modesto Irrigation District, City of Burbank, LA Department of Water and Power, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Georgia Power and Power New Mexico.

The RAD Program Growth Award, which recognizes greatest annual percentage increase in refrigerated appliance units processed, was won by Delmarva Power, Georgia Power and City of Burbank.

The RAD Ambassador Award went to Exquisite Property Services (EPS) for its exemplary display of highest sustainability practices.

Joe Goffman, Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation noted that the winning partners demonstrated highest standards of processingin the safe disposal of appliances.
