SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Paragon RNG- the joint venture between GFL Environmental Inc. and OPAL Fuels Inc. announced that it has commenced commercial operations at its second renewable natural gas (RNG) facility at the Sampson County Landfill located in Roseboro, North Carolina. The project has already submitted an application for EPA registration and anticipates a typical ramp-up phase.
It is projected that the Sampson RNG facility has a nameplate capacity of 1.6 million MMbtu (12.4 million GGE) of RNG per year. GHG emissions will be decreased and fleet operating costs will be greatly reduced by using this RNG as transportation fuel.

The company is thrilled to see another RNG facility go online thanks to its cooperation with OPAL Fuels, stated GFL's founder and CEO, Patrick Dovigi. The facility would play a vital part in reaching its aim to cut greenhouse gas emissions from landfills. Furthermore, it will provide an alternative fuel source to power its trucks, he noted.
According to Adam Comora, co-CEO of OPAL Fuels, the Sampson RNG facility's completion signifies the company's tenth plant that is currently in service. The company's nameplate capacity has more than tripled to over 7.8 million MMBtu in the last 30 months, Comora added.
