The EGLE grant will empower the city to compete for commercial customers. The city plans to offer a comprehensive suite of services that will significantly elevate the recycling access, participation rates and tonnage collected.

Enterra Recycling- the company that provides recycling services in the city, noted that the grant would put more trucks on the road in Lansing. This in turn will deliver improved productivity, the company said.

Michiganders recycled 82,000 tons in 2023, at a recycling rate of 23%. The state aims to boost its recycling rate to 30% by 2029.
