Hamilton’s Recycling Program to See Changes From Tomorrow

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Beginning on April 1, 2025, the city will no longer be in charge of the household Blue Box program; instead, the national non-profit organization Circular Materials will take over.

From April 1st to December 31st, 2025, the city's current curbside collection program with two-stream recycling will remain unchanged. The list of approved materials will also remain unchanged.

Residents will no longer be permitted to drop off large, rigid plastic objects at transfer stations or community recycling centers as of tomorrow. It will be necessary to either schedule a bulk pickup or dispose of these goods as trash. Additionally, cardboard deliveries from commercial clients will no longer be accepted. The city will keep collecting yard waste, green bin waste, bulk rubbish, and garbage in the interim.

Owners and property managers of multi-residential complexes will have to contact Circular Materials to seek educational materials as of tomorrow. The city will keep gathering recyclables from businesses, government buildings, childcare facilities, and houses of worship until December 31, 2025.

Additionally, Hamilton City Hall, municipal service centers, and community recycling centers will no longer carry blue boxes. Blue boxes will have to be purchased from a retail establishment by residents who need them.
