SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): New Jersey-based Interstate Waste Services (IWS) has announced acquisition of Oak Ridge Waste & Recycling based in Connecticut. The deal is expected to close by the end of first quarter 2024. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Oak Ridge’s portfolio comprises of a rail transfer facility in Danbury, a MRF in Shelton and a transfer station in Norwalk. The acquisition marks yet another notable geographic expansion for IWS and one of the industry’s larger transactions in the Connecticut region since 2021. The company has added to its fold at least six New Jersey businesses since its mega merger in 2020 by which it acquired New York City assets of Action Environmental and Ohio assets of Apex Environmental. This includes acquisition of Solterra Recycling Solutions in 2022 and Bridgewater Disposal during the previous year.
Oak Ridge’s delivery of collection and processing services through a dedicated workforce and its entrenched culture makes an exceptional fit with IWS, noted Michael DiBella, CEO of IWS.
