SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): James City County has chosen to participate in the Feet on the Street cart-tagging recycling initiative, which is sponsored by askHRgreen.org, in an effort to increase recycling quality and lower contamination in curbside recycling carts. It should be mentioned that a number of Hampton Roads communities are currently involved in the project.
The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC) received a $1.9 million EPA Recycling Education and Outreach Grant to support the program, which is part of a three-year recycling education campaign. It gives locals individualized curbside recycling instruction and feedback in real time.

Residents in James County and the surrounding area will have access to a wealth of information and services by enrolling in the program, which will guarantee higher-quality recycling initiatives. According to Katie Cullipher, team leader for askHRgreen.org, trained observers will visit neighborhoods on collection days to inspect recycling carts and provide homeowners direct advice on how to lower contamination.
The administration is thrilled to introduce this program to the people of James City County, according to Bob Dittman, Solid Waste Director for James City County. He went on to say that the new real-time feedback system will significantly improve recycling practices.
