SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Kane County announced that it will host annual Recycling Extravaganza on Saturday, July, 20 8 AM to 12 Noon. The mega event will be held in the parking lot of the Kane County Circuit Clerk’s office, 540 S. Randall Road in St. Charles. The recycling event will collect a wide range of materials.
The participants are requested to arrive between 8 and 11:45 AM. They should not arrive early, as it may result in creation of long lines even before the start of the event. Also, they are required to approach the event from the south.
Batteries must to be sorted into three categories-all alkaline batteries regardless of shape, all button cells and all single use alkaline-equivalent lithium batteries and all rechargeable batteries under 11 lbs. The event will not accept wet lead batteries and other batteries over 11 lbs.
Fluorescent tubes must be separated from linear LED lights. They should not be bound together. CFLs, LEDs and HIDs should be put loose and must be in separate containers. Meantime, incandescent and halogen bulbs will not be accepted at the event.
Some items will have a cost associated with recycling. For instance, the fee for TVs and computer monitors under 21” will be $25, whereas that of screens over 21” will be $35. Aerosols, compressed gas, child car seats, smoke and CO detectors and latex paint and coatings will also have recycling costs associated with them.
