SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Knauf North America and Caldwell's have been working together for the past two years to increase glass recycling efforts in Indiana's Shelby and Hancock Counties.
Knauf has been working to increase the amount of recycled glass that is gathered from nearby villages as part of the partnership. The company is using the materials gathered to create new fiberglass items.

After recognizing the need for local companies in Shelby and Hancock Counties, Knauf teamed up with Caldwell's, a top hauling service in Shelby County, which gave Knauf the necessary operational framework to move glass. In the last two years, the cooperation has grown significantly. Today, it hauls around six tons of materials each month for recycling and collects empty glass bottles from over 40 local companies in the counties.
The partnership greatly reduces landfill trash by fusing Knauf's state-of-the-art production facilities with Caldwell's logistical network.
The company plans to replicate similar collaborations in other towns where its operating facilities are located, according to Chris Mahin, Vice President of Sustainability and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at Knauf.
