Accordingly, residents will have to separate their recyclables into two categories, which essentially means that curbside pickup will now be dual stream. There will be two pickups on alternating weeks. For a week, the pickup will accept fibers such as cardboard and paper, whereas during the following week, commingled waste including plastic glass and metal containers will be accepted.

The town press communication warned that it will nor pick up cross-contaminated recycling loads or materials put out on the wrong week. The revised curbside pickup schedule will begin with Maplewood on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, whereas it will finish the week on Thursday and Friday in South Orange.

If in case, the load is rejected due to contamination, residents are advised to remove the contaminating items and wait until the next scheduled pickup. Alternatively, it could be brought to the DPW Recycling Center at 359 Boyden Avenue during normal operating hours, ie., 8 AM to 3PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 12 PM on Saturdays.
