SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) announced grants amounting to $332,953 towards boosting recycling education and reducing landfill waste.
The grant program aims to provide support and encouragement to local communities in meeting their solid waste and recycling goals. The Education and Outreach grant and Organics Management grants are administered by TDEC’s Division of Solid Waste Management.

Sevier Solid Waste Inc, Sevier County received a grant amount of $100,000, which will be used towards purchase of wheel loader. A similar grant amount was allocated to University of TN, Knoxville towards expansion of internal combustion program. The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davison County too received $100,000 in support of a food scrap program.
The other grant recipients are Rosebank Elementary School ($10,050 for school composting program), TN Environmental Council ($7,003 for educational materials), Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County ($13,000 for education materials) and City of Germantown ($2,900 for recycling and solid waste guide and education).
