SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Tennessee Recycling Coalition announced the 2024 Recycler of the Year Awards. The Awards recognizes individuals, organizations, and businesses in Tennessee for their contribution to waste prevention and recycling.
The awards were announced by Lincoln Young, Tennessee Sustainability Conference director in Gatlinburg during the organization’s annual Tennessee Sustainability Conference held last week.
The 2024 Business Recycler of the Year award was won by Domtar’s Kingsport Mill. The mill is home to the second-largest recycled containerboard machine in North America and is the largest recycler of corrugated cardboard in the state of Tennessee.
Metro Nashville was selected as the winner of the Government Recycler of the Year. The Non-Profit Recycler of the Year award was won by Sewanee Mountain Grotto. The Top Leader award of the year was presented to Gary Wayne Hyde, Sanitation Department manager and Lawrence County Solid Waste director for the City of Lawrenceburg and Lawrence County.
Kathleen Gibi, executive director of Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful won the 2024 Paul Hayden Memorial Award, whereas Ginger Reasonover of The Environmental Council was awarded the Tom Hattle Memorial Award.
