According to DNR press release, priority will be given to those projects planned in counties that do not have a permanent collection site, such as Calumet, Crawford, Florence, Forest, Green Lake, Iowa, Iron, Jackson, Marinette, Price and Taylor. The maximum allowed grant for a collection event will be $5,000, whereas a permanent collection site will receive a grant of up to $10,000. The deadline for accepting grant applications is Wednesday, July 31, 2014 5 PM.
Businesses, local and tribal government bodies as well as non-profits are eligible to apply for the grant.
The DNR had awarded more than $135,000 to 29 projects in as many as 18 counties over the past two years. Accordingly, a total of 30 one-day collection events were organized between August 2022 and May 2024. Also, the grant had supported the development of three permanent collection sites in Kewaunee and Pepin counties.
The grants are intended to help rural communities offer electronics recycling collection to their residents.
