Call2Recycle Launched New Battery Recycling Program in Nova Scotia

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Call2Recycle announced official launch of its provincial battery recycling program in Nov Scotia. The “Recycle Your Batteries, Canada!”, launched on 1st July, 2024, promises to support Nov Scotia’s efforts to fight climate change and reduce waste.

The provincial government of Nova Scotia had implemented new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations in August last year, which makes it the responsibility of producers to deal with end-of-life batteries. Incidentally, Nova Scotia is the second Atlantic province to implement the battery recycling regulations.

Call2Recycle has running a voluntary program since 1999, which has collected and recycled over 770,000 kilograms of batteries till date. With the launch of “Recycle Your Batteries, Canada!” program in the province, it will now expand its collection network. In addition, it will also engage in multi-faceted education campaigns to raise awareness among general public.

The new program provides enhanced recycling options for a wide range of used batteries, including single-use and rechargeable batteries weighing less than 5 kilograms as well as e-mobility batteries.
