The modern facility features a fully-automated container line, thus making it the most automated facility in the entire country. It will be capable of processing both residential as well as commercial single-stream material for not only the City of San Antonio but also for the surrounding communities. The recovered materials will be sold in North American markets.

The 145,000 square foot facility was built at an investment of $68 million. It is expected to create nearly 70 new full-time environmental jobs in San Antonio region. It is Balcone’s fourth Texas facility.

It must be noted that Balcones Resources had recently entered into a 15-year municipal recycling contract with the City of San Antonio, which is scheduled to commence on August 1st, 2024.
