Bloomington City to Host Annual Recycling Drop-Off Event


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Bloomington announced that it will hold its annual citywide recycling drop-off event on Saturday, September 28, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Western Maintenance Center, 10500 Hampshire Ave. S. The event will provide City residents with an opportunity to dispose of large items and recyclable materials in a responsible manner.

The event will accept certain items for a fee. The only accepted modes of payment will be cash and checks. Most of the items will be accepted free.

Appliances such as air conditioners, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators, stoves and water heaters will be accepted at $10 each. There will be a fee of $20 each for mattresses and box springs, whereas crib mattresses will have a fee of $10 each. Electronic items such as computers, monitors, tablets and televisions will be accepted at a fee of $10 each. A fee of $3 per unit will be charged for tires.

The electronic items accepted at no charge include cell phones, computer accessories, cords, game consoles, headphones, printers, stereos and VCD/DVD players. Other items that are accepted free are bicycles, scrap metal and paper.

The event will not accept building materials, carpet, concrete, exercise equipment, furniture, household hazardous waste, lamps, leaf blowers, light bulbs, paint, vacuum cleaners and trash.
