SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Solid Waste Division under the Calvert County Department of Public Works announced series of free paper shredding events for county residents as well as businesses. The events will provide an opportunity to get rid of unwanted confidential documents or those containing sensitive data.

The first of the three events is scheduled to be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023 at Appeal Landfill, located at 401 Sweetwater Road in Lusby. The second event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 at Huntingtown High School, located at 4125 Solomons Island Road in Huntingtown. The third event will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at Appeal Landfill, located at 401 Sweetwater Road in Lusby. The timing of all the above three events is from 9AM to 1 PM.
Proof of residency or business location need to be provided. The events will accept documents with paper clips and staples. However, binders and clips need to be removed. While business will have a limit of up to five banker boxes of paper, there will be no such limit for residents.
The participants will be provided with certificates of destruction, if needed.
The events are in addition to shredding events that are held every month.
