G2 Energy, Waga Energy Collaborate to Produce RNG from Landfills

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Leading integrated resource recovery business Recology owns and operates two landfills where G2 Energy and Waga Energy will work together to create Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) projects.

As a result, Waga Energy will fund, construct, own, and run two RNG production facilities that will generate gas using its own WAGABOX technology.

The first plant will be situated in the Ostrom Road Landfill in Wheatland, California, and will be able to produce up to 420,000 MMBtu (123 GWh) per year. With a production capacity of about 630,000 MMBtu (185 GWh) annually, the second facility will be situated in the Hay Road Landfill in Vacaville, California. Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) will be connected to both projects. According to the firm, both facilities are anticipated to be operational by 2026.

Landfill gas is now used to produce power at the two active landfills mentioned above. Waga Energy expects improved efficiency and higher energy conversion by modernizing the facilities and substituting RNG for landfill gas. Additionally, it will assist in offering a sustainable substitute for natural gas. Clean energy will be produced and emissions will be decreased when landfill gas is converted to RNG.
