Republic Services, Archaea Energy Partners to Build New Indiana RNG Plant

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Lightning Renewables joint venture- the partnership between Archaea Energy, a subsidiary of bp and Republic Services announced their first renewable natural gas (RNG) plant. The Archaea Modular Design (AMD) plant at Republic's National Serv-All Landfill in Fort Wayne, Indiana is the first of nearly 40 such projects to be built by the joint venture. The plant is expected to come online this summer.

The Fort Wayne AMD plant will convert landfill gas collected from Republic Services' landfill into RNG. According to U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA), the use of RNG will contribute to better air quality and result in significant jump in domestic energy production. The plant, once fully operational, is expected to process around 6,400 scfm into RNG.

Commenting on the development, Starlee Sykes, CEO, Archaea Energy noted that the Fort Wayne plant is just the beginning of its incredible partnership with Republic Services to capture landfill emissions, thereby providing decarbonization solutions to customers.

Meantime, Jon Vander Ark, president and chief executive officer, Republic Services said that it is proud to celebrate the first of the approximately 40 RNG projects in the Lightning Renewables portfolio. Together, the partnership will help to create a more sustainable world, he added.
