Reynolds Opened Tobaccoville Water Recycling Facility

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Reynolds Operations Center in Tobaccoville, N.C. announced opening of Reynolds WaterHub-an advanced water recycling facility. The formal ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by representatives of the Reynolds American organization (Reynolds) and H2O Innovation was attended among others by prominent business and community leaders.

The facility is expected to reduce Reynolds’ environmental impact and advance the global BAT Group’s sustainability ambitions. It makes use of modern water reclamation technology to treat a combined wastewater stream from the plant in order to reintroduce it as intake water for the factory utilities. By doing so, the facility is likely to achieve significant reduction in the intake of fresh, valuable drinking water.

Commenting on the development, Bernd Meyer, executive vice president of operations at the Reynolds organization said that it marks a significant milestone in Reynolds’ sustainability journey and demonstrates its long-term commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Reynolds WaterHub is expected to reduce water withdrawn at the Reynolds Operations Center by more than 40%. Furthermore, it will lead to conservation of water in Forsyth County’s Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin.
