UCRRA Alerts Residents on Recycling Guidelines for Holiday Season

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Residents of Ulster County have received comprehensive recycling advice for the Christmas season from the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency (UCRRA). The purpose of the rules is to provide locals a clear understanding of what should be recycled and what can be thrown out.

Before putting things in recycling bins, the Agency advised residents to confirm the local recycling regulations. It pointed out that not all packaging could be recycled effectively. Paper mailers, wrapping paper, and cardboard boxes are among the recyclable Christmas things. Bows, styrofoam, and bubble mailers, on the other hand, could not be recycled.

It also provided helpful information regarding string light recycling. Since there is a potential that they will tangle with recycling machinery once they enter the recycling stream, UCRRA advises against placing these goods in recycling bins.

Ulster County, New York is home to two UCRRA facilities. A transfer station, a material recovery facility (MRF), and a compost facility are located at the main office in Kingston, New York. It operates a transfer station at its other facility in New Paltz, New York.
